dive sites of the Kona Hawaii area.

TOP
1.
Bandit Ledge
The gentle hills and ridges of this site support a surprising amount of beautiful
cauliflower corals. A school of "Spinner Dolphins" is often playing
in the cove.

2. Garden Eel Cove
The slow drop-off ends in a sandy bottom The sandy bottom is covered with graceful
garden eels.
TOP
3. Anglers
Beautiful arch way housing a big family of Turkey Lion Fish. Many small and
large pinnacles, rocky outcroppings, and corals can be found throughout the
area.

4. High Rock
A massive ridge is capped by a pinnacle rising to within 10 feet of the water's
surface. Both the ridge and the pinnacle provide shelter for a host of different
marine organisms. Octopuses thrive at the base of the ridge. Lots of rocky outcroppings.

5. Anchor drag
In toward the shore there is a maze of canyons, arches, and
small caves which make for enjoyable explorations. Lobsters,
crabs, shrimp and puffer fish inhabit these waters.

6. North Golden Arches
Main attraction is a rock arch. A field of boulders and sand patches provide
variety of different habitats for the marine life. Scattered coral heads throughout
the area.

7. South Golden Arches
Large rock arch with a nice sandy area next to it. Numerous marine organisms
take shelter in and around the arch.

8. Harlequin
Great sport for anyone who wants to do a deep dive and see all kinds of fish
in large numbers. Some huge pinnacles in the area, and a few lava tubes and
caves to explore close to shore.

9. Aquarium
A good variety of fish and other marine life can be found here. Lots of rocky
outcroppings and boulders. Some nearby lava tubes and a drop-off to explore.

10. Suck-em-up
This site offers two caves you can swim through. Skull Cave & Suck-em-Up
Cave. Lots of rocky overhangs to explore close to shore. Drop-off very close
with good change of big pelagics swimming by.

11. Lone Tree Arch
Here you find a cavern with large skylights through the top near the shore.
The main attraction however, is a big rock arch. Many fish populate the area
close to shore.

12. Lead City
Corals and boulders are scattered about the bottom and many fish populate the
area close to shore. Some good shoreline exploring available. Great cave.

13. Kaloko Arches
The main attraction here are the beautiful and unique rock outcroppings and
lava formations. Miniature canyons and three arches create this unique underwater
terrain.

14. Turtle Pinnacle
One of best sites to find green sea turtles. This beautiful turtle cleaning
station is located around some attractive pinnacles. Corals and a wide variety
of other marine organisms can be found throughout this area.

15. Eel Cove
Interesting rapid drop-off for those who prefer deep diving. Small canyon formations
close to shore.

16. Thunder Reef
Good spot for viewing deep-water animals. Sharp drop-off, closer to shore you
will find corals, boulders, and a few pinnacles.

17. West Kaiwi
This dive site is probably one of the best for fish viewing. Lots of coral,
a drop-off close by. Good viewing for big pelagics. A couple of small caves
closer to shore.

18. Pawai Arches
Great arch with cave behind it. Nice cave with big skylight next to it. Great
coral formations. Fish population in this area is abundant.

19. Carousel
A great big cave is one of the main attractions at this site. Large animals
are common to the area because of the deep water at the drop-off close by. This
area has large populations of fish.

20. Black Rock
Coral cover along the bottom is substantial throughout the area. Great to explore
shore line with cliff walls, and arches.

21. Shark Fin
A few large pinnacles with lots of marine organisms. A sharp drop-off into deep
waters.

22. Casa Caves
Beautiful coral surrounding this swim through lava tube. Several white tipe
reef sharks live in and around the tube. Often some turtles in the area. Nice
soft coral formation at entrance to the tube.

23. Manta Ray Village
Famous site to view Manta Rays at night while feeding on plankton. Boulders
close to shore, lots of coral close to the drop-off.

24. Mahi Point
Interesting lava formations and lava tubes in the near shore waters. Also known
as Fantasy Reef because of the excellent coral reef formations.Several species
of fish and a variety of other marine organisms inhabit these waters.

25. Chimney
This site has rocky outcroppings, corals and a large sand patch, however without
doubt, the main attraction is the vertical lava tube known as "Chimney".
On days of calm weather it is possible to swim up or down this tube.

26. Blue Room Inn
Coral throughout the area. A great cave close to shore. On a calm day it is
possible to ascent in side the cave and look at the ceiling of this cave. A
cliff wall is lining the sand patch.

27. Nenui Treasures
Two giant heads of "Christmas Tree" coral have grown together. A large
sand patch lies just outside these coral heads at depth of about 80 feet where
a number of garden eels have made their home.

28. Red Hill Ledge
Many excellent underwater features here. Large undercut ledge with lots of areas
to explore.

29. Sharkeys
Lots of coral patches covering the area. Nice cave with an archway connected
to it.

30. Long Lava Tube
The best lava tube dive there is. A 70 feet long lava tube, some cavern and
a great rock archway. Lots of marine life.

31. Amphitheater
A big area of softcoral, a few caves toward shore. Sizable fish populations,
corals, and a great assortment of other marine organisms inhabit the area.

32. Driftwood
Corals are a little sparse, but the underwater terrain at this site has some
very intriguing features. Many rock ledges and a few lava tubes which are easy
to enter. Good chance to see white tip reef sharks.

33. Coral Dome
Big cave, which a huge skylight. Lots of great marine life inside the cave.
Good chance of finding a beautiful Spanish Dancers. Lots of ledges and outcroppings
to explore.

34. Jigsaw
This site is an excellent example of a marine environment with a lava flow history.
Divers can explore the formations and rocky outcroppings along the bottom for
marine animals and their habitats.
